It's been a busy growing season! I'm enjoying watching the butterflies and bumblebees in my garden. I hope you are finding moments of joy in the outdoors, too.

I just finished new illustrations for the fall issue of Horticulture magazine. Watch for it soon! A lot of research went into these. I had photos of bumblebees in my garden and went down an absolute rabbit-hole identifying them- apparently there are a lot of different species of bumblebees here in Nebraska. Pretty amazing!
Also, I wrote an article for GardenSMART's newsletter last month, and it's up on their website here:
This is the first in a series of articles about fun horticulture words. If you enjoy words and plants, consider subscribing to the newsletter for more. Full disclosure here- I am the newsletter editor. I really enjoy this work, and I get to work with some of the nicest people in the green industry every month. It's full of news about new plants and practical gardening hints.
I'm also taking some virtual art classes on weekends. Those of you who have taken my classes know that I believe that you never stop learning, and that goes for practicing and teaching artists like me, too. I'm taking classes in calligraphy, something I've been interested in since I was about 12 years old and bought a Schaeffer calligraphy fountain pen. So far, I've taken pointed pen flourishing classes with Heather Held and a Blackletter and Variations class with Reggie Ezell and have more scheduled. What fun! I will share some of that work soon.
Thank you for reading along! Stay cool and enjoy the dog days of summer! Fall will be here before we know it.
